Passive Subwoofer Crossover How Can I Power A Passive Subwoofer?

How can I power a passive subwoofer? - passive subwoofer crossover

I have a passive subwoofer very well in my current room surround sound system. I have a new receiver for Christmas and now I see that the performance does not deliver electricity sub ... Well not so, his work. Is there a way to connect to a different outcome to the receiver? Can I have an external power source to power? Or should I buy a new subwoofer?

Unfortunately, I must tell you that, sadly, every series in parallel, which had been badly explained. In parallel impedance will be doubled in half the number. And on average can be approximated by half if the speakers have the same impedance. Otherwise, if the values are different, it is a means. Example: (2) 8-ohm speakers are 4ohm total impedance of 16 ohms in parallel and in series. If you have an 8 Ohm and Ohm Impedance 6 Ohms total of $ 7 14ohm in parallel and in series.
I do not recommend this type of compounds. You will not get up to the optimum accuracy of this type of hook. When Eric was, you can buy an amplifier for DIY subwoofer plate. This will require changes to the U-boats Cabinet, but as indicated.

Suppose you do not have a "B" speaker
I recommend you to a switch impedance matching speaker with volume control. (partsexpress.com)
This will ensure that you connect everything properly connected. It also allows you to adjust your volume from submarines, and if they do not wantuse. Unfortunately, a signal is sent to your sub-floor by a low frequency broadband signal. It's perfect if you built sub crossover filter to low frequencies, the sub.

If you have a line level (RCA) LFE (Low Frequency Effect)-output or subwoofer output. I recommend the following options

1) purchasing a new subwoofer.
2) Take a single channel monoblock amplifiers. Source makes some audio amplifier with very low costs only channel that works well in this situation. This amp can drive to your person sub.You in the parties also to be expressed.
If you have an old receiver with some you can use.

Eric has the best answer here. But if ... or rather .... a temporary solution would be to get an amplifier (if you) on the hand and run a connection from the subwoofer in a new receiver into the amp "temporary." WARNING! If there is a temporary audio amplifier, do not. It is a special circuit, the telephone number no more than a turntable cartridge to receive signal.
Another thing to do. Make sure that the subwoofer in the new receiver activated. I forgot to mention. If this amplifier is a stereo amplifier old temporary ensure that the passive subwoofer to each channel through the receiver was in contact with. For example, if you ran the connection to an entry on the left side, he is sure to leave the hook in the connection passive speaker amplifier transient. A few years ago is the same as me. This was not the best solution, but works well, until I really subwoofer amplifier. We hope that this is helpful.

Apart from looking for an amp for the subwoofer. You can buy a plate amp, especially for subwoofers, used by fans on the DIY market. The advantage is that the mono amplifier board are all line level (RCA) and speaker jacks, electronic filter (), the most variable parameters, and are not expensive.

This would require some mods, or simply a business case for the amplifier plate. I would say that is the fate of the only original, creating a "box" to the amplifier installed on the motherboard, even ugly, the amplifier can hide / field outside of the site and continue to enjoy long your money.
You can submarines cheaper powered amplifier plate, but do not know what kind of sub you have now.

Issue # 3 (sorry):

As for the connection of the new digital satellite receivers in the subregion with the Speaker of the central channel wire. I say the center instead of the central front of the net, because with modern surround signal to both the canal, while the network only the "shell receives" signals.
One problem with what I describe is that that if you listen to music in stereo (channel surround sound without the active participation), the Sub-Committee did not receive a signal. The cable under the center channel is to work hard for the recipient) may be overheating and the amplifier turned off (or even permanent damage caused.
There are two ways to connect together several speakers:

Series &
Parallel

Wiring in series half the impedance of the amplifier "sees" when, as the wiring is not parallel, we are doubling the impedance. For example, two 8-ohm speakers series on "a" 4-ohm speakers on the amp. Or 16 ohms in parallel. What makes the amplifier (the most time) is to the benefit (to half of the series and parallel performance increase is a generalization - but close enough) in my opinion.
Most receivers are designed to handle 8 ohm speakers. In fact, the RMS ratings of the manufacturers provided for 8 ohms. Many have a way 4 Ohms, and testingour manuals specifications section (you can view the power) can be accessed by the load impedance.
I concentrate on the series circuit.
All this is really "guirlandage" you should see the positive (+)-channel receiver centers take to the entrance run (+) into the speaker of the central canal. Now, in conjunction with another speaker cable, the (+) yield (entry +) center channel, and run passively for the input (+) in their subgroups.
Do the same with the negative (-) things. Receiver - Center channel speaker - subwoofer.
You can also use two speakers son of the same issue on your receiver, a center channel and a subwoofer.
Once again, there is no signal to the sub unless the center channel is used in this together.

All in all, I would invest in an amplifier or a plate subwoofer active again.

Hope that helps and good luck!
